Naoise Barry, the current Film Commissioner for the Irish Film Board, is set to leave his post at the Film Board to become head of production at Pinewood Productions Ireland. The move is set to take place in mid-August.

In May the legendary British studio announced the formation of Irish operations, with the new addition to the Pinewood Studios Group offering a full service production company focusing on physical production administration, Section 481 application and packaging.

The company will service Pinewood’s International clients shooting on location in Ireland. Services range from pre-production budgeting and location scouting, through facilities rentals and talent and crew sourcing.

Barry spent 14 years at the Film Board, during which time he helped facilitate international productions in Ireland, and worked with major international television and film studios in bringing the likes of The Tudors, The Borgias, Camelot, Vikings, Haywire, and Star Wars to film in Ireland.

Speaking to the Irish Independent IFB chief executive James Hickey praised his work with the Film Board.
Naoise has played an enormous role in attracting international production to Ireland. During his tenure at the IFB he succeeded in establishing two very important and influential networks; the FILM DUBLIN Partnership and the Network of Regional Film Offices. These industry support networks include a wide range of public bodies who provide vital support to filmmakers.  He also forged strong links with Tourism Ireland to exploit the synergy between film and tourism. We would like to thank him for his dedicated service and wish him the very best of luck in the next phase of his career.

We’ve worked with Naoise in his role at the IFB over the years, and know he has an exceptional record of achievements in his field.

I am very much looking forward to joining the Pinewood Group and bringing my knowledge and experience of the industry to my new role as Head of Production.
