The Irish Film Institute today took the wraps of their brand new 4K laser projector that has been installed in Screen 1.

The new Barco DP4K-23BLP offers the latest in cinema projection technology, increasing clarity, reducing cost, and offering 10 years of guaranteed service. The projector offers a wide range of brightness levels – up to 24,500 lumens in 4K and provides high contrast levels. It’s also capable of offering 4K 2D content at 60fps and 4K 3D at 30fps.

The new projector continues the IFI’s commitment to completely refurbishing Screens 1 and 2 at the cinema, which was outlined in their 5 year strategic plan earlier this year. Screen 1 also houses the only 70mm projector in Ireland, highlighting the IFI’s wide-ranging capabilities as the home of Irish film.

We look forward to seeing the new images on screen and following their next steps in modernising the cinema.
