Break Out Pictures has announced that they will release Irish/UK/Australian co-production Animals in Irish Cinemas from August 9th.

Starring Holliday Grainger (My Cousin Rachel, The Borgias, Patrick Melrose) and Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development, Transparent) Animals tells the story of Laura and Tyler – two girls who like to party. Drink, drugs and general debauchery infuse their days while their careers and lives remain on hold. As they drift into their thirties, reality begins to bite, but Laura and Tyler will not be tamed so easily. Set in Dublin, Animals is a celebration of female friendship and the choices we make. It is an honest, unconventional and very funny snapshot of two very modern women.

We are thrilled to be working with Picturehouse Entertainment on the release of the wild and utterly hilarious Animals , it went down a storm in Sundance earlier this year and we hope Irish audiences will enjoy it as much as we did when it hits Irish cinemas later this summer. Nell Roddy – Break Out Pictures

Animals is directed by Sophie Hyde (52 Tuesdays) with screenplay by Emma Jane Unsworth – author of the acclaimed novel by the same name. Producers are Sarah Brocklehurst, Rebecca Summerton, and Ireland’s Cormac Fox. It is backed by Screen Ireland, Screen Australia, and Cornerstone Films.
