Variety is reporting that a number of companies have snapped up the international rights to Tobias Baumann’s Irish co-production Ghosthunters: On Icy Trails. The film is part of the Irish delegation currently selling at the Marché in Cannes.
The film, which is based on Cornelia Funke’s novel, tells the story of a young boy who discovers a green ghost living in his basement.
EOne has acquired the North American rights, with Altitude Distribution taking those for the UK; Transmission for Australia and New Zealand; Notorious for Italy; Gulf Film for the Middle East; New Guys for Israel; Medyavizyon for Turkey; Pratama Films for Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore; and Blitz for the Balkan countries.
Ghosthunters: On Icy Trails is produced by Lucky Bird Pictures in co-production with Ireland’s Ripple World Pictures, Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany, Lotus-Film, Immer Wieder Gerne Film and Satel Film. The film is funded by FFF Bayern, the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, the Filmförderungsanstalt FFA, the Deutscher Filmförderfonds DFFF, the Filmfond Wien, the Österreichisches Filminstitut OEFI, the Filmstandort Austria FISA, and Bord Scannán na h’Éireann/Irish Film Board and supported by the Bayerischer Bankenfonds and Section 481 in Ireland.
The Animation and Visual FX work was performed by EGG Post Production in Dublin.
