#IrishAbroad: Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami sells to Kino Lorber in North America

ScreenDaily are reporting that Kino Lorber has acquired the North American rights to Sophie Fiennes’ documentary/biopic Grace Jones: Bloodlight And Bami, which is produced by Dublin-based Blinder Films. Kino Lorber plan to release the film in North American cinemas in April, with the VOD and DVD release later in the year. Kino Lorber previously released Fiennes’ Over Your Cities Grass Will Grow.

The film is a multi-narrative journey through the private and public realms of the legendary singer and performer Grace Jones. Mixing intimate personal footage with unique staged musical sequences, and reaching beyond the iconic mask to create a cinematic journey into the worlds of Ms Grace Jones.

The documentary is a collaboration between Jones and Fiennes, who first embarked on the project together in 2005. Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami is produced by Katie Holly for Blinder, as well as Sophie Fiennes and Shani Hinton in association with JW Films and financed by BBC Films and the BFI in association with Roads Entertainment and the TBA21 Foundation and with the participation of Bord Scannán na hÉireann / the Irish Film Board.

The film’s sales agent, WestEnd Films, has also sold the film to Germany (Ascot Elite for January 24th release), Italy (Offine Ubu for January 30th release), Australia (Umbrella for March release), Benelux (Arti Film), China (Lemon Tree), Scandinavia and Baltics (Non Stop), Poland (Against Gravity),  Switzerland (Praesens), the Middle East (Front Row), and the Slavic countries (Demiurg). The North American deal was negotiated by Kino Lorber CEO Richard Lorber and Eve Schoukroun and Sofia Neves at WestEnd.

Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami was released in Ireland and the UK last October by Trafalgar Releasing.
