Irish state broadcaster RTÉ has released the first promo teaser video for new Irish legal drama Striking Out, which will premiere on RTÉ One early next year.
The four-part drama, originally called Cheaters, has been created by James Phelan (Éirí Amach Amú / Wrecking the Rising). It stars Amy Huberman as Tara, a solicitor who sets up her own practice after catching her fiancé and colleague Eric cheating on her. Her new firm specialises in family and divorce law, and includes her mentor Vincent and tech guru and private detective Meg. Her cases will put her in direct conflict with influential families and the legal and political establishment, as well as challenging her own personal morals.
Rory Keenan (Peaky Blinders) stars as Eric, with Neil Morrissey (The Night Manager) as Vincent, and Fiona O’Shaughnessy (Utopia) as Meg. The series is created by Phelan, and written by him, Rob Heyland (Between the Lines, Whistleblowers), and Mike O’Leary (Eipic, Misfits). It is directed by Lisa James Larsson (NBC’s Welcome to Sweden).
Striking Out is produced for RTÉ by Katie Holly and Yvonne Donohoe of Blinder Films (Love & Friendship, The Queen of Ireland) with international co-financing from DCD Rights and Acorn Media Enterprises. It will make its U.S. debut on Acorn TV next year.
