#Industry: Irish production company ShinAwil heads to Series Mania with new TV drama division

Deadline is reporting that Irish production company ShinAwiL has launched a new drama division, with their inaugural scripted slate ready to be presented at Series Mania in Lille, France.

The new division will be run by Aaron Farrell, producer on Vikings and The Borgias, alongside former RTÉ commissioning editor of drama Mary Callery.

Shinawil will pitch 3 series at Series Mania:

Kill: A six-part contemporary crime drama written by Barry Devlin (Ballykissangel, The Darling Buds of May, My Mother and Other Strangers, A Man of No Importance). The series is a black comedy set in the unfortunately named tourist Irish hotspot of Kill, as local cop Tom Dolan struggles to solve a series of bizarre murders. RTÉ and Screen Ireland are already onboard as partners.

Flying Blind: A four-part period drama written by author Ann-Marie Casey (An Englishwoman in New York, The Spy Who Caught A Cold, Dangerous Lady, The Clinic). The series tells the story of the first nonstop Transatlantic flight in June 1919 when British aviators John Alcock and Arthur Brown flew a modified WWI Vickers Vimy bomber from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Connemara in Ireland. Supported by Screen Ireland.

Tara and The Humanimals: A 13-part drama aimed at young adolescents. The half-hour series is centered around a young girl sent to Ireland to live with her estranged father. She soon discovers that she’s a descendent of an ancient line of Druids and begins to explore her strange inherited powers. Supported by Canadian independent production company CCI Entertainment, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, and the Canadian Media Fund.

We’re excited to be heading to Series Mania with three exciting new drama projects in development with some of Ireland’s brightest writing and directing talent. We’re already in discussions with various distribution and broadcast partners and look forward to showcasing these fantastic projects to new co production partners in Lille.
