#IrishTV: Principal photography wraps on pilot for drama series A Very Irish Family

Principal photography has wrapped on A Very Irish Family, a WW1 based short pilot written/created by Declan and Rob Gill and directed by Emmet Kelly. This pilot for a TV series in development introduces the well-to-do and politically influential Gleeson family of Tipperary (based on a real-life family and real events) as the tumultuous events of the early 20th Century threaten to tear the family apart.

A Very Irish Family is a co-production between Aonach Productions and Burning House Productions and was shot on locations in Co. Limerick, Limerick City, and Co. Cavan. Executive Producers Declan and Rob Gill of Aonach Productions intend to premiere the drama – set in Tipperary, Flanders and the US – in Limerick this autumn while continuing to develop and pitch the TV series.

Director Emmet Kelly (The Current) and award-winning Director of Photography Eamonn Murphy (Lost Memories, The Great Wide Open, I’ve Been a Sweeper) recently picked up awards for best film and best director at the Discover Film Awards London for their film ‘Lost Memories’.

1st Assistant Camera/Focus puller on the project was Sean Clarke and Niall Creaven (Barty Carty, Gone Viral) was on sound. Louise McCague and Anniina Kankaansivu were 1st Assistant Director and Production/Script Coordinator respectively. Michelle Navarro, Roisin Condon and Aishling Scully were in the Wardrobe and Make-up department. Production and set design/build services were provided by Emerald Giants Productions through Zeb Moore (The Clockmaker’s Dream, Deirdre) and Frank Boland (Deirdre).

The lead cast for A Very Irish Family consists of Joe Mullins (Pilgrim Hill, The Clockmaker’s Dream, In View), Aoife King (Mammal, Fair City), Anthony Moriarty (The Lobster), Mei Bignall (Penny Dreadful), Eamonn Elliott, Hannah Osborne (They Shoot People), and Emmet Kelly (Lost Memories, The Current).
