For all you food lovers out there, this is the film for you. Set in the idylic French countryside, The Hundred-Foot Journey tells the tale of two cultures who clash and the results from that.

Madame Mallory (Helen Mirren) is the owner of the finest restaurant in France; she even gets government officials eating there. So when the Kadam family move in and open an Indian restaurant straight across the street, she is horrified and a tug of war begins. The Kadam family, led by Papa (Om Puri) and family gastronomic genius Hassan (Manish Dayal), have come to France with dreams of opening a restaurant  just like they had back in India.

However they had no counted on a woman like Madam Maollory to stop them. So begins a war between the two families. She tries everything in her power to get rid of them but they are stubborn! Their lives get even more complicated when Hassan falls for the beautiful sous chef Maguerite (Charlotte Le Bon) from Mallory’s kitchen. This along with his increased interest in French cuisine lead him to the door of Madam Mallory.

At first look this film seems to be all about food. But there is so much more to this than meets the eye. It is also about working for what you want, believing in yourself and your ability to that. It is about how sometimes when you think you have what you want, it’s not it at all.. And it’s also about love and how love can change everything.

With fabulous acting from all the cast, especially Helen Mirren, who sports a surprisingly good French accent throughout the film,  the breath-taking shots of the both the Indian and French countryside and the odd hilarious one liner added in, this film is sure to be a hit with food lovers and those who like an uplifting story.
