Irish podcast Docs That Rock has been signed to American network Big Heads Media, the podcast channel operated by Michigan Sports and Entertainment Network. The popular show is presented each week by co-hosts Cherida d’Arcy and Tracey Ferguson. ‘Docs That Rock’ discusses a new documentary film or series each week and has been on air for just under a year.
The podcast is currently available on iTunes, Soundcloud and various podcast networks but will now also be available on Spotify. Popular episodes include The Staircase, Leaving Neverland and Oscar-nominated documentaries including Three Identical Strangers, RBG which examines the life and career of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Oscar winner Free Solo.
The Galway-based podcast already has a strong following in the U.S. but this move will mean a much wider audience for the show.
We are overjoyed to add ‘Docs that Rock’ to our roster of podcasts. Cherida and Tracey do a show that is of the highest quality and is enjoyed by so many people. I, personally, listen to the podcast every week. Most importantly, however, Cherida and Tracey are wonderful people and my co-owner, Dan, and myself believe in investing in and empowering fantastic people.
Mark Phillips, Co-owner – Michigan Sports and Entertainment Network
We are excited to join the Big Heads Media family and are particularly thrilled to be the network’s first Irish podcast and only their second international podcast signing outside of the U.S. Our audience is quite a niche group of documentary fans but the genre is growing each month, particularly with the increase in documentary film production and exposure via channels like Netflix and Amazon.
Tracey Ferguson, Co-host
We started this podcast because we are passionate about documentaries and found ourselves talking about them each time we met, so we thought we may as well do a podcast about it. We were delighted to have been approached by Mark Phillips and Dan Murphy of Big Heads Media and look forward to moving ahead with their podcast network” said co-host
Cherida d’Arcy
All 50 current episodes of Docs That Rock are available on iTunes, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Soundcloud. Stitcher, BigHeadsMedia.com and all good podcast outlets.
