I think it’s safe to say that there’s a certain amount of people in Hollywood that have decided to go back to their childhood and ask “what did I like then…surely people would like that now…let’s remake it!” The latest from this assembly line of re-runs is Yogi Bear, that beloved picnic basket stealing bundle of fur we all grew up watching.
Warner Bros. has released the first poster for Yogi Bear, and well it’s not much to look at. The newly CGI Yogi and Boo Boo just don’t work for me. However the cast is very good, with Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake voicing the bears against a live action cast of Anna Faris, TJ Miller, Tom Cavanagh, and Andrew Daly.
The official synopsis is as follows:
Jellystone Park has been losing business, so greedy Mayor Brown decides to shut it down and sell the land. That means families will no longer be able to experience the natural beauty of the outdoors — and, even worse, Yogi and Boo Boo will be tossed out of the only home they’ve ever known. Faced with his biggest challenge ever, Yogi must prove that he really is “smarter than the average bear” as he and Boo Boo join forces with their old nemesis Ranger Smith to find a way to save Jellystone Park from closing forever.
Yogi Bear is out December 17th.
