Disney Pictures Ireland have just sent over a new international poster for Winnie the Pooh, the forthcoming animated adventure of the famous A.A. Milne creation. And it’s actually rather nice, as it harks back to the classic E. H. Shepard illustrations.
Pooh has been an odd property over the years for Disney, with the 100 Acre Wood’s inhabitants mostly being relegated to direct to video adaptations, save for a few features every couple of years. In fact the last 3 movies, The Tigger Movie, Piglet’s Big Movie and Pooh’s Heffalump Movie have all focused on the other characters rather than the titular honey-loving furball. And while this is the second full-length Pooh feature in cinemas, it will be the first that isn’t a collection of shorts.
Winnie the Pooh will focus primarily on the bear himself, with the other famous characters appearing in a number of sequences which will be taken from five previously unadapted stories from the original books. Little else of the plot is currently known, although it is rumoured that the stories In Which Eeyore Loses a Tail and Pooh Finds One from the book Winnie-the-Pooh and In Which Rabbit Has a Busy Day and We Learn What Christopher Robin Does in the Mornings from The House at Pooh Corner will feature.
The film is being directed by Stephen Anderson and Don Hall, and has Disney/Pixar creative head-honcho John Lasseter as an executive producer. John Cleese is providing the narration, with Jim Cummings, Tom Kenny, Craig Ferguson, Travis Oates and Bud Luckey providing voices.
Winnie the Pooh will be released in Ireland on April 15th
