I love the artwork for Disney’s new movie Winnie the Pooh. The 4 character posters that were released today just go to prove that minimalistic, old-style hand-drawn animation can be just as marvellous as the modern computer generated stuff.
The new Pooh movie follows Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga, Roo and Eeyore on a quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit.
The movie, which is based on 5 stories for the A.A. Milne classic series of books marks the first big-screen Pooh adventure from Disney animation in more than 35 years.
Veteran Disney animator/storyman/director Burny Mattinson (a key animator on the 1974 featurette Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too!) serves as senior story artist, and provides an experienced hand to help directors Stephen J. Anderson and Don Hall.
TV host Craig Ferguson lends his vocals to Pooh, with Jim Cummings, Tom Kenny, Travis Oates and Pixar direcator Bud Luckey also adding their tones. Zooey Deschanel has performed a new version of the theme song especially for the movie too.
Winnie the Pooh will be released in Ireland on April 15th.
