VOD: Volta to offer Day & Date release of Hong Khaou's Lilting

This Friday sees the release of Cambodian-born British director Hong Khaou feature debut Lilting, in cinemas and on Volta, the Irish VOD service.

Lilting is just the latest film offered by Volta on the day of cinematic release, as they look to offer independent film fare to those we can’t make it to an art-house cinema and those who like to enjoy something different at home.

The film tells the story of a mother’s attempt to understand who her son was after his untimely death, and after receiving a visit from her son’s lover. Together, they attempt to overcome their grief whilst struggling against not having a shared language.

Director Hong Khaou has a fine cast on board with Ben Whishaw in the lead, supported by Cheng Pei-pei, Andrew Leung, Morven Christie, Naomi Christie, and Peter Bowles.

In addition to Lilting, Volta is planning 3 more “day and date” releases in the near future with Two Days, One Night releasing August 22nd, Life Of Crime out September 5th, and award-winning Polish drama Ida coming our way on September 26th.

The Volta service allows you to stream or download films to rent (for a 48 hour period) or buy films to watch from your PC. Users can also purchase a CinePass which allows you to purchase blocks of 5 or 10 rentals up front at discount prices (up to 25 % off).
