Many people cite Taken as the birth of the new era of “Liam Neeson as an action hero” movies, and they may well be right. I prefer to use Batman Begins as the start with his Ra’s Al Ghul laying the smack down on Christian Bale’s apprentice Bruce Wayne. Either way he has another new action movie coming out called Unknown, and below is the trailer.
The plot (which is purely there to get Neeson from fight A to fight B) sees the Irish star wake after a car accident to find that somebody has stolen his identity. With guys out to kill him and with no-one he can trust he sets out on a mission to get back to himself.
It’s all a little Bourne Identity without the amnesia but hey that’s not a bad idea. There’s a great line-up too with January Jones, Diane Kruger, Frank Langella and Aidan Quinn filling out the cast. Orphan director Jaume Collet-Serra is guiding this movie which looks more than a little like Taken 2.
Unknown is out in the States February 18th. No Irish release date confirmed yet.
