To the surprise of no-one Warner Bros confirms Justice League is a go

Warner Bros have finally officially announced probably the worst kept secret in Hollywood…their forthcoming Batman vs. Superman will be immediately followed by a Justice League film.

Rather than going the Marvel route and giving each key team member a solo film Warner Bros have decided to pepper Batman vs. Superman with a host of cameos for the supporting Justice Leaguers. So far we have seen casting confirmation of Wonder Woman and Cyborg, but don’t be surprised to see names being linked for The Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern or even Martian Manhunter very soon.

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder, who is also the driving force on Batman vs. Superman, will make it a trilogy of superhero films for Warner Bros by taking the reins on Justice League too. Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck will play Superman and Batman respectively, with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. Warner Bros have also confirmed that, with the right script, a solo Wonder Woman film is on the cards. Of course that’s been the stance for years with a good script being the major stumbling block to getting the Amazonian on screen before now.

THR and Latino Review are reporting that Warner Bros is looking at shooting the Justice League back-to-back with Batman vs. Superman, aiming the film at a summer 2017 release. An official announcement of their intentions is expected at San Diego Comic Con in July.

Batman vs. Superman (which still is just a working title) will be released in Ireland on April 29th, 2016.
