It appears that The Lives of Others director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (now that’s a name) is back in the frame to helm the spy thriller The Tourist. This comes after the director originally left the project citing “creative differences”.
The movie, which follows an American tourist who is drawn into a web of intrigue by a female Interpol agent attempting to locate a criminal who was once her lover, sees Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie play the main roles.
The remake of the 2005 French thriller Anthony Zimmer was originally penned by Julian Fellowes but has subsequently been polished by Jeffrey Nachmanoff and The Usual Suspects scribe Christopher McQuarrie.
Shooting will take place this spring for a 2011 release.
