Screen Gems, via Facebook, has released a third character posters for director Harald Zwart’s adaptation of the Cassandra Clare young adult novel The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. This one features Love/Hate star Robert Sheehan’s Simon Lewis, the mundane sidekick of Clary Fray.

The film centres on Clary Fray, a teenage girl who discovers that she’s descended from a sect of half-angel warriors who protect the world from demons. As you do…

Lily Collins has the central role, with Jamie Campbell Bower, Jared Harris,  and our own Robert Sheehan and Jonathan Rhys Meyers supporting.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is out in Ireland on August 21st.

Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures. Based on the worldwide best-selling book series.

Simon should have been played by an actual Jew, Logan Lerman, and not by Robert Sheehan.

I do not believe that a person’s religion has any bearing on their ability as an actor. Logan Lerman is already lead in his own fantasy franchise so I could not see him contractually being allowed to join this, nor would I see him acting in a supporting role.

Robert Sheehan is a very capable actor and will do a great job here.
