A new trailer for The Lincoln Lawyer, the adaptation of Michael Connelly’s sedan based advocate, has arrived and it’s not half bad either. Although it does star Matthew McConaughey so there is the potential for awfulness.
The movie follows a cocky lawyer who gets more than he bargained for when he decides to represent a Beverly Hills playboy against charges of rape and attempted murder.
The supporting cast is excellent, starring Ryan Phillippe, Marisa Tomei , William H. Macy, John Leguizamo, Michael Pena, Trace Adkins, and Katherine Moennig. That’s a couple of big pluses to offset the McConaughey factor. On a positive McConaughey note however he does seem to keep his suit on most of the time in this one.
The Take director Brad Furman is behind the camera working off a script from Intolerable Cruelty writer John Romano.
The Lincoln Lawyer is released in the US and Ireland on March 18th.
Synopsis:
In the gripping thriller “The Lincoln Lawyer,” Matthew McConaughey stars as Michael “Mick” Haller, a slick, charismatic Los Angeles criminal defense attorney who operates out of the back of his Lincoln Continental sedan. Having spent most of his career defending petty, gutter-variety criminals, Mick unexpectedly lands the case of a lifetime: defending a rich Beverly Hills playboy (Ryan Phillippe) who is accused of attempted murder. However, what initially appears to be a straightforward case with a big money pay-off swiftly develops into a deadly match between two masters of manipulation and a crisis of conscience for Haller.
