The Guard gets an Irish cinema release date

New Irish movie The Guard, which went down a storm at the Sundance and Berlin film festivals, finally has an Irish release date set. Element Pictures Distribution will be bringing it our way on July 8th.

The Guard is a thriller-comedy set on the west coast of Ireland where Sergeant Gerry Boyle (Brendan Gleeson) is a small-town cop with a confrontational personality, a subversive sense of humour, a dying mother, a fondness for prostitutes, and absolutely no interest whatsoever in the international cocaine-smuggling ring that has brought FBI agent Wendell Everett (Don Cheadle)to his door.

Directed by John Michael McDonagh, The Guard has a strong cast, which includes Gleeson, Cheadle, Fionnuala Flanagan, Liam Cunningham and Mark Strong.
