First trailer and poster for Mathieu Amalric's The Blue Room

IFC Films has released the first trailer and poster for new French drama The Blue Room, directed by and starring Mathieu Amalric.

The film sees a  man and a woman, secretly in love, alone in a room. They desire each other, want each other, and even bite each other. In the afterglow, they share a few sweet nothings. At least the man seemed to believe they were nothing. Now under investigation by the police and the courts, what is he accused of?

Alongside Amalric, the film stars Léa Drucker and Stéphanie Cléau. Amalric and Cléau co-adapted the film from a novel by Georges Simenon.

The Blue Room screens at the London Film Festival next month, with a likely release early next year.

Suddenly Julien is caught up in a police investigation—but just what exactly happened? Based on a novel by celebrated crime writer Georges Simenon, this beguiling cinematic puzzle unfolds in an elliptical style that keeps the audience guessing every step of the way.
