Hot on the heels of Sony’s abrupt change in direction for the Spider-Man franchise comes news that the studio has created a new wish list of potential directors.
Deadline Hollywood are reporting that (500) Days of Summer director Marc Webb is the preliminary favourite to take Sam Raimi’s spot. James Cameron, David Fincher and Wes Anderson all feature on the wish list but with each of those costing multiple millions it is entirely likely that the studio will opt for Webb.
DH says that Webb has met with the producers and studio execs at Sony and that the studio is keen to start filming later this year.
Sony are also reportedly interested in filming the new Spidey in 3D. That’s not really a shocker given the success of Avatar and the web-slinging one does seem particularly suited to the medium.
