Columbia Pictures has launched the official website and trailer for new movie Grown Ups from You Don’t Mess with the Zohan director Dennis Dugan.

grown_upsThe new comedy stars Adam Sandler and tell the story of five friends and former team-mates who reunite years later to honour the passing of their childhood basketball coach. With their wives and kids in tow, they spend the Fourth of July holiday weekend together at the lake house where they celebrated their championship years earlier. They all very quickly find themselves reverting to childhood ways.

The movie marks Dugan’s fourth time as director of an Adam Sandler vehicle, after The Benchwarmers, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry and Zohan, but he has appeared onscreen in many other Sandler flicks dating back to Happy Gilmore. Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and David Spade are all onboard, in addition to Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, and Maya Rudolph. So there’s plenty of comedy talent available, even if some of that resides deep within Spade.

I’m holding out hope, against all evidence to the contrary that Sandler can rediscover his Happy Gilmore/Big Daddy form. Whether good or bad, expect to see the movie around July 2010.
