Deadline is reporting that Irish star Saoirse Ronan has signed on to appear in Greta Gerwig’s directorial debut Lady Bird.
Ronan will play a high school senior, spending her last year at home in Sacramento. Gerwig, who co-wrote Mistress America with director Noah Baumbach, is also the writer for Lady Bird, but will not appear in the film.
Ronan was recently nominated for her second Academy Award for her leading role in John Crowley’s Brooklyn, the beautiful adaptation of Colm Toibin’s novel. She can next be seen in Michael Mayer’s adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull.
Shooting on Lady Bird is expected later this spring.
