One of the more interesting smaller movies coming out this year is Duncan Jones’ second feature, after his acclaimed first outing Moon. Titled Source Code it stars Jake Gyllenhaal and is another sci-fi flick, except but a bit more action than the last one. And it’s got a new poster now that coveys that fact.

Gyllenhaal plays a soldier, who through the use of pioneering technology gets to take over another persons body for the last 8 minutes of their life. That person is a victim of a terrorist attack and by reliving the bombing over and over Gyllenhaal must find out who’s behind it and how to stop the next one. It’s Die Hard meets 12 Monkeys meets Groundhog Day…which sounds amazing!

The support cast is good to with Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga  and Jeffrey Wright all attached.

Source Code is scheduled for release April 1st. So not long to wait now!

Synopsis:

When decorated soldier Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he’s part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. In an assignment unlike any he’s ever known, he learns he’s part of a government experiment called the Source Code, a program that enables him to cross over into another man’s identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. With a second, much larger target threatening to kill millions in downtown Chicago, Colter re-lives the incident over and over again, gathering clues each time, until he can solve the mystery of who is behind the bombs and prevent the next attack. Filled with mind-boggling twists and heart-pounding suspense, Source Code is a smart action-thriller directed by Duncan Jones (Moon) also starring Michelle Monaghan (Eagle Eye, Due Date), Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air, The Departed), and Jeffrey Wright (Quantum of Solace, Syriana).

As corny and hokey as the premise is, I'm looking forward to it. If only because Moon was one of the best movies of the past few years.
