It’s being reported that the forthcoming Expendables 3 will be given a PG-13 rating, meaning less violence, less gore and no language. The story has yet to be confirmed by Lionsgate and Millennium Films, but has been confirmed by star Sylvester Stallone. A great shame for the action series and a real change in direction for Lionsgate and Millennium, known for their brutally violent action and horror movies. And with three months left to release date, it looks like the PG-13 rating will remain. Very disappointing, especially after the not so good Expendables 2. What could have been a lucrative franchise has now died down drastically. Many action fans upset today.
Here is a statement from Stallone – “We want to reach as many people as possible. It’s very close to an R, believe me, it’s right there. But I think we owe it to the next generation. We thought we’d join that club for a while.”
The Expendables 3 will be released this August and stars Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Wesley Snipes and Jet Li, with the legends Mel Gibson and Harrison Ford also appearing.
