Ready for another adventure with those scary yet huggable monsters Mike and Sully? Well you’re in luck as Disney/Pixar have announced that Monsters Inc. 2 is a go.
It’s unlikely that Pete Docter, director of the original and UP, will return but there is plenty of talent in the Disney/Pixar stable to guarantee success. The first movie was released in 2002 and the sequel is set for the 10 year anniversary in November 2012, giving a whole new generation a chance to catch the guys on the big screen. I assuming (probably correctly) that the original will see a cinematic re-release in 2012 too.
Although that may not be the case as Disney/Pixar have confirmed that Brave (formerly titled The Bear and Bow) will be it’s summer movie of 2012, hitting screens in the US on June 15th. Brave tells the story of a rambunctious young princess whose hell-bent on forgetting her royal ways and making a name for herself as an archer. The voice-cast includes Reese Witherspoon, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson and Julie Walters. Much is being made of this being Disney/Pixar’s first female lead, and while that’s worth mentioning the story is all that really matters.
If 2012 is too long to wait for your Disney/Pixar fix then as luck would have it there’s always Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 coming our way between now and then.
