Horror film Sinister, released in 2012 and directed by Scott Derrickson, was a highlight for many fans of the genre. Sinister 2 is the eagerly anticipated sequel, but with Derrickson off to direct Doctor Strange for Marvel the film has been left in the capable hands of Irish director Ciarán Foy. Foy’s own 2012 horror Citadel being equally highly regarding by horror fans.
The sequel sees a woman and her 9-year-old twin sons encounter the evil spirit of Bughuul in a rural house that’s marked for death.
Derrickson and original writer C. Robert Cargill return on scripting duties, with actor James Ransone reprising his role. Ransone is joined by Shannyn Sossamon, Robert Daniel Sloan, Dartanian Sloan, Lea Coco, Tate Ellington, and John Beasley.
Sinister 2 opens in Ireland on August 21st.
In the aftermath of the shocking events in Sinister, a protective young mother (Shannyn Sossamon) and her 9 year-old twin sons (Dartanian and Robert Daniel Sloan) move into a rural house that Bughuul is residing in. He tries to convince one of the children to kill his whole family and film the murders. Meanwhile, Deputy So & So (James Ransone) investigates the murders himself, in an attempt to stop more of these killings from happening.
