Back about 10 years ago, during their glory days, The Farrelly Brothers made some funny movies. There’s Something About Mary stands up to repeating viewing time and time again. But then their movies stopped being funny, and became more crude, rude and disappointing. Fingers crossed then that new movie Hall Pass isn’t more of the same but a return for the comic brothers to the form of their youth. This new red-band trailer kindles the smouldering embers of hope once more.
The plot is an interesting if slighty (completely) unbelievable one. Two married guys get given the opportunity, by their wives, to go out and for one week try and cheat consequence-free.
The film stars the comedic talents of Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis, Jenna Fischer, and Christina Applegate. Sudeikis is a real star in the making so he’ll be the one to watch.
Hall Pass opens in the States February 25th, Ireland the UK March 11th.
Rick (Owen Wilson) and Fred (Jason Sudeikis) are best friends who have a lot in common, including the fact that they have each been married for many years. But when the two men begin to show signs of restlessness at home, their wives (Jenna Fischer, Christina Applegate) take a bold approach to revitalizing their individual marriages: granting them a “hall pass,” one week of freedom to do whatever they want…no questions asked. At first, it sounds like a dream come true for Rick and Fred. But it isn’t long before they discover that their expectations of the single life-and themselves-are completely, and hilariously, out of sync with reality.
