Godzilla set to stomp back onto screens with Gareth Edwards

Godzilla, the 1998 Roland Emmerich big-budget sci-fi adventure, was an appalling piece of rubbish, featuring Ferris Bueller running around in the rain getting wet and ruining his hair. Good news then…a remake is on it’s way! Before you go running for cover from the nuclear contaminated beast from the deep it’s not all bad. Monsters director Gareth Edwards is the man tasked with bringing honour back to Tokyo’s favourite destroyer, and he might just be an inspired choice.

Given the success of Monsters Edwards is definitely a logical choice for the Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures co-production. What he accomplished on a microscopic budget means that he definitely deserves a crack at something bigger. Edwards will also tackle the script himself, although he might want to get a move on if he’s to meet the expected 2012 release date. Expect to hear a lot more about this movie very soon.
