Go stand in the corner – Bad Teacher News

Cameron Diaz is a busy, busy girl. Not content with working on just Shrek Forever After, Knight and Day and the Green Hornet the star has now signed up for the lead in Columbia Pictures’ raunchy comedy Bad Teacher.

The movie is set to be directed by Walk Hard helmer Jake Kasdan, based on a script from The Office writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. It will see Diaz as a foul-mouthed, gold-digging teacher. After being dumped by her sugar-daddy boyfriend she sets about competing with the school’s model teacher for the romantic intentions of a colleague.

We all know that Diaz can do funny (There’s Something About Mary) and she can do quirky (Being John Malkovich) but her recent output has been a bit off. The fact that the two writers other output recently was the catastrophic Year One does not inspire confidence. This could potentially go either way on the hit/miss scale but hopefully it’ll be the former.

Production is set to start in the spring so look for a late 2010/early 2011 release. No word as yet on the rest of the cast.
