It’s not just Irish films that are represented at the 2015 Galway Film Fleadh, Irish actors are also starring in international films. One of these, Swansong by writer/director Douglas Ray, will have its world premiere at the festival on Saturday, July 11th at 10.15pm in the Cinemobile.
Swansong is the debut feature film of Ray, who worked as Ken Loach’s assistant and has built up a reputation for his quirky short films featuring actors such as Tom Hardy, Rafe Spall and Ruth Wilson. His feature sees him work with Irish actress Eva Birthistle and Antonia Campbell-Hughes. The film also stars Paul Hilton and acclaimed comedian Matt Berry (The I.T. Crowd).
The film follows former rock star Mark, who finds out his wife has been cheating on him with a woman so embarks on an ill-advised kidnap in revenge – only to discover that he’s not the real psychopath among them.
The world premiere of Swansong will be screened on Saturday, July 11th at 10.15pm in the Cinemobile. A director’s Q&A will follow the screening.
