The Galway Film Fleadh ha announced that Saoirse Ronan has been confirmed as a guest of honour at this year’s event. She will also be the subject of a Public Interview in the Town Hall Theatre on July 14th. From her Oscar nominated performance in Atonement, to an exquisite portrayal of a naive and deadly assassin in Hanna and her youth-defying turn as a centuries-old vampire in the current Byzantium, Saoirse is a home-grown talent whom Hollywood royalty are clamouring to work with. Saoirse will join a host of filmmakers and film lovers as Ireland’s leading film festival celebrates its 25th anniversary.
The six day 2013 international film event takes place from Tuesday 9th until Sunday 14th July and promises to be an unmissable event in the Irish social and film industry calendar. This year’s Fleadh will continue to premiere the newest and the best in Irish cinema, including Life’s a Breeze, the new film from director Lance Daly (Kisses) and starring Pat Shortt and Fionnula Flanagan, already confirmed as part of the programme.
Now in its 25th year, the central goal of the Galway Film Fleadh remains unchanged: to bring together audiences and filmmakers within an intimate environment and share a common experience – the wonder of cinema. Welcoming a variety of filmmaking and filmmakers from around the world, The Galway Film Fleadh attracts directors, actors, cinematographers and artists of all generations and cultural backgrounds. This is a very special year for the Fleadh, so whether you love movies, going to the cinema, are a film buff, student filmmaker, industry professional or just want to spend the week of a lifetime in Galway, make sure you visit The Galway Film Fleadh this July.
