Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Zac Efron is set to star in Universal Pictures’ adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis’ graphic novel Fire.
Efron will play a college student who is recruited by the CIA to be a secret agent. It is only later that he discovers that his particular program was set up to train expendable agents, setting the scene for a showdown with his new masters.
Bendis himself is on hand to write the script for the movie which Efron will have an Executive Producer credit on. No word on potential directors or shooting dates just yet.
Quite the busy man is young Efron having reportedly also signed on to star in a time-travel, Back to the Future-esque, movie for Warner Bros. The project is a combination of two others, a pitch from writer Tim Calpin and Kevin Jakubowski, and another called Algorithm that the studio was developing for Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nick Stoller.
Whether Stoller remains attached for this is yet to be determined. However, Efron is no Marty McFly.
