Exclusive clip highlighting the sumptuous cinematography of True Grit

The Coen Brothers new western True Grit hits cinema screens today, and as well as being a truly marvellous update of the John Wayne classic, and featuring two award-worthy acting performances from Hailee Steinfeld and Jeff Bridges, it is Roger Deakins’ cinematography that really strikes. In an exclusive clip from Paramount Pictures you can see just how that was accomplished.

The movie is a remake of the 1969 Academy Award winning western and sees Bridges take on Wayne’s iconic role of a tough old US marshal who comes to the assistance of a young woman in order to track down her father’s murderer.

Add in Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, newcomer Steinfeld, and the amazing Deakins and you can easily see why this is such a strong contender for Oscar glory. Run, fly, grab a horse, do whatever you can to see this on as big a screen as possible.

Synopsis:

Fourteen-year-old Mattie Ross’s (Hailee Steinfeld) father has been shot in cold blood by the coward Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin), and she is determined to bring him to justice. Enlisting the help of a trigger-happy, drunken U.S. Marshal, Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges), she sets out with him — over his objections — to hunt down Chaney. Her father’s blood demands that she pursue the criminal into Indian territory and find him before a Texas Ranger named LeBoeuf (Matt Damon) catches him and brings him back to Texas for the murder of another man.
