George A Romero to make horror movie shocker! Okay that’s not shocking but what is is the subject matter. There’s not a zombie in sight! Romero is all set to remake Dario Argento’s 1975 classic Deep Red.

Deep Red focuses on music teacher Marcus Daly as he investigates the violent murder of psychic medium Helga Ulmann, which he witnesses in an apartment building. As he follows the case it becomes increasingly apparent that the killer is always just that one step ahead of him.

Although Romero has worked with Argento before, most famously on Day of the Dead and Two Evil Eyes, the Italian auteur has no involvement in this project. His brother Claudio on the other hand does as he has written the script for the new movie.

Romero plans to start shooting, in 3D, later this year. It could be interesting as Romero has a gift, it’s just a shame he’s not making anything original any more.
