Cosmopolis – Farrell and Cotillard join Cronenberg

David Cronenberg is a very busy man, and he’s about to become even busier. Not content with planning a sequel to 2007s excellent gangster flick Eastern Promises and starting production on psychoanalysis drama A Dangerous Method, he’s gearing up to adapt Don DeLillo’s novel Cosmopolis.

The story, which is almost entirely set in the back of a limo, follows billionaire Eric Packer, as he makes his way across town to get a haircut. What unfolds in 24 hours in his life that sees him cheat on his wife, get stalked by a stranger and slowly go bankrupt.

Adding to the Phone Booth type claustrophobia is the casting of Colin Farrell as Parker, with Public Enemies Marion Cotillard as his wife. Cronenberg penned the script himself with help from the author and is keen to start working on the project.

At present the plans are to shoot the film from March through May of 2011, setting us up for a late 2011 release, just in time for Oscar season.
