Deadline is reporting that Laois actor Robert Sheehan has signed on to star inTrollhunter director André Øvredal’s latest film, Mortal.
The film, which is scripted by Øvredal, is a fantasy adventure origins story, based on Norwegian mythology, about a young man discovering he has god-like powers.
The film is being produced by Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Automatik, Ben Pugh and Rory Aitken of 42, and John Einar Hagen of Nordisk Film Production. Nordisk Film will distribute in Nordic countries with IM Global handling international sales. They are currently shopping their Irish co-production The Last King at Cannes, where this news comes from.
Speaking about the film Øvredal said:
My goal is to again bring the amazing Norwegian mythology out to a worldwide audience, this time through a modern, action-oriented character journey.
Sheehan, who is best known to an Irish audience for Love/Hate will next be seen in Dean Devlin’s Geostorm. Production on Mortal is due to take place this summer in Norway.
Øvredal is represented by WME, Industry Entertainment, and Hansen Jacobson. Sheehan is represented by Gersh, Lisa Richards Agency in the Ireland and the UK, and Felker Toczek.
