Brendan Gleeson and Jeremy Irons join Michael Fassbender on Assassin’s Creed

Deadline is reporting that Irish actor Brendan Gleeson and Irish resident Jeremy Irons are the latest to join Michael Fassbender in the New Regency and Ubisoft adaptation of best-selling computer game series Assassin’s Creed.

The film will see Cotillard join her Macbeth costar Fassbender, as well as director Justin Kurzel, with Irons playing Cotillard’s father and Gleeson playing Fassbender’s father.

The film is set to be the first of a franchise, with both Fassbender and Cotillard attached for 2 films. Fassbender is producing the film through his Northern Irish production company DMC Film, alongside Frank Marshall, Arnon Milchan, Jean-Julien Baronnet, Conor McCaughan, and Pat Crowley with financing from RatPac and Alpha Pictures.

Production will begin in autumn for a December 21, 2016 release.
