Oh now this is what I like to see, a poster for John Landis’ forthcoming black comedy Burke & Hare. The poster which appeared in a trade magazine at Cannes depicts the title duo, played by Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis, dumping a body into a bin while the lovely Isla Fisher looks on.

The movie is based on the true story of two 19th Scottish grave-robbers,who discovered that they could make a mint by digging up corpses and selling them to the Edinburgh Medical College. In all they sold 17 corpses before their macabre work was uncovered by the police.

Burke & Hare is Landis’ first directorial charge in over 10 years and it’s great to see the creator of An American Werewolf in London back in the chair. In addition to Messrs. Pegg and Serkis and Miss Fisher the film stars Tim Curry, Tom Wilkinson, Stephen Merchant and a host of other British thespians.

With the talent on show, and a delightful line in black humour, this should be one to see when it is released later this year.
