John Landis is gathering together quite a cast for his new horror comedy, Burke and Hare.
Isla Fisher, Andy Serkis and Tom Wilkinson are the latest to join, teaming up with Simon Pegg for Landis’ first movie in 10 years.
The screenplay, from writers Piers Ashworth and Nick Moorcroft, is based on the true story of the UK’s earliest serial killers, William Burke and William Hare, gravediggers who lucratively sold the corpses of their victims to a medical college for dissection.
Pegg will play Burke, while Serkis will play Hare, a role recently vacated by David Tennant on account of his new role in NBC’s Rex Is Not My Lawyer.
Fisher is set to play Pegg’s girlfriend, an actress with a patron who may or may not be an accomplice to the murders. Wilkinson will play Dr. Robert Knox, an anatomy lecturer on the lookout for fresh cadavers.
The movie is set to start shooting in Edinburgh and London at the end of January. Expect to hear more soon.
