Awards: Nominations are in for the Writers Guild of Ireland’s 8th annual ZeBBie Awards

The Writers Guild of Ireland has announced the nominees for their 8th annual ZeBBie Awards.

The ZeBBie Awards are annual awards created by the WGI — named in honour of O. Z. Whitehead — to acknowledge the best script(s) written by Irish playwrights and screenwriters during the previous year.

The ones that we are particularly interested in are the Best Feature Film Script, which sees Brendan Heery & Niall Heery’s Gold go up against John Michael McDonagh for Calvary and Terry MacMahon for Patrick’s Day; and Best Short Film Script, which features strong contender (and Oscar nominee) Ronan Blaney for Boogaloo and Graham compete with James Fitzgerald for Skunky Dog and John Kennedy & Ruairí O’Brien for Cutting Grass.

The 8th annual ZeBBie Awards Ceremony, which is hosted by Senator David Norris, takes place from 8pm on Wednesday, May 20th at the Sugar Club on Leeson St in Dublin.
