Irish Abroad: Mark Noonan's You're Ugly Too to premiere at Berlin

Irish film You’re Ugly Too, the debut feature of writer/director Mark Noonan, will have its world premiere at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival in February, under the Generation section.

The film stars Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones) as Will, who is released from prison on compassionate leave to care for his niece Stacey (Lauran Kinsella; Albert Nobbs), after the death of her mother. As they both head into the sleepy Irish midlands and attempt to be a family, they suffer a series of setbacks, from Stacey being refused admission to the local school because of her recently developed narcolepsy, to Will repeatedly coming close to breaking his prison-ordered curfew, and his attempts at being a good role-model proving disastrous!

You’re Ugly Too was produced by John Keville and Conor Barry for Savage Productions and was filmed in counties Dublin and Offaly. The film was funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board.

The Generation category of the Berlin International Film Festival is devoted to children and young people. This is divided into two categories: Generation Kplus, aimed at children from the age of four, and Generation 14plus, aimed at children from the age of fourteen. You’re Ugly Too will screen in the Generation Kplus category.

The 2015 Berlin International Film Festival takes place from February 5th to 15th.
