#IrishAbroad: Tiger Raid to world premiere at 2016 Tribeca Film Festival

Irish co-production Tiger Raid, from director Simon Dixon, will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival next month.

The film, which stars Brian Gleeson (The Stag, Standby) and Damien Molony (Clean Break), is a dark thriller featuring two mercenaries who journey across the desert while undertaking a kidnapping in Iraq.

The film is adapted by Gareth Coulam Evans and Mick Donnellan from Irish writer Mick Donnellan’s acclaimed play of the same name. It was produced by Dublin-based Samson Films and London’s Story Films with support from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board.

Tiger Raid will premiere in the Midnight strand of the festival.

ruth-bradley_imageAlso premiering at Tribeca is Holidays, a horror anthology from some of today’s most visionary genre auteurs.

Irish director Gary Shore (Dracula Untold) is amongst the directors on the project, with his section based on St. Patrick’s Day and featuring Ruth Bradley (Grabbers). As well as directing the segment Artane born Shore is also producing on behalf of ArtCastle Productions.

The film will a collection of subversive short horror films, each inspired by a different celebration. These will include the Dracula Untold director’s effort, as well as Valentine’s Day, directed by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch (Starry Eyes); Easter, directed by Nicholas McCarthy (The Pact); Mothers’ Day, directed by Sarah Adina Smith (The Midnight Swim); Fathers’ Day, directed by Anthony Scott Burns (Manifold); Christmas, directed by Scott Stewart (Dark Skies); and finally Hollow Ian, directed by Kevin Smith (Clerks).

The Tribeca Film Festival takes place in New York from April 13-24. Established by Robert DeNiro, the Festival has screened over 1400 films from over 80 countries since its first festival in 2002.
