Tiger Raid

#IrishFilm: Watch the trailer for Fleadh-bound thriller Tiger Raid

One of the most exciting films heading to this year’s Galway Film Fleadh is Simon Dixon’s Irish co-production Tiger Raid.

The film, which stars Brian Gleeson (The Stag, Standby) and Damien Molony (Clean Break), is a dark thriller featuring two mercenaries, Joe and Paddy, who  are members of a private security crew working in the Middle East. They have been assigned to kidnap the daughter of a powerful man as part of a major robbery – a Tiger Raid. We meet them as they travel through the inhospitable desert on their way to execute the raid. Joe, the older of the two, carries a brutal and unrepentant view of the world, defined by fear and adoration of their invisible but omnipresent boss. Paddy is younger and recklessly ambitious, hungry to progress through the ranks of the crew. Neither man trusts the other as they tell half truths and stories of previous victories in a battle to determine who controls this increasingly volatile situation.

The film is adapted by Gareth Coulam Evans and Mick Donnellan from Irish writer Mick Donnellan’s acclaimed play of the same name. It is produced by Martina Niland and David Collins for Dublin-based Samson Films and Gareth Coulam Evans for London’s Story Films with support from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board.

Tiger Raid will be released in Ireland later this year, and plays the Fleadh on Thursday, July 7th at 10pm.
