The Wandering - David Nolan and Philip Coffey

#IrishFilm: Liza Bolton’s The Wandering makes final at Figueira FilmArt Film Festival

Irish film director Liza Bolton’s first feature The Wandering made the final selection at the prestigious Figueira FilmArt Film Festival in Portugal last weekend, ahead of its Irish premiere at Underground Cinema Film Festival on September 10th in Dun Laoghaire.

200 years after the Great Fail and the world has become unknown again. Exiled from their homeland because of their Father’s foolish choices, brothers Cathal and Cet search in the wilderness for the mythical Meave who they believe can help them regain their lost territory and make their mark on the world. This is a world where nihil fit ex nihilo – nothing comes from nothing.   Everything is at stake. This is a film that asks you to immerse yourself in the imagery and the journey. It is brooding, ominous and mythical. The landscape features in its epic scale and use here and the figures in the landscape remind us of how fleeting, how fragile our time is.

The Wandering is an independent feature film set in the west of Ireland. Director Bolton co-wrote the film with Mayo based writer Martin Keaveney. The film features Irish actors Philip Coffey and David Nolan as the brothers Cathal and Cet, alongside Mark Savage.

Irish audiences can see The Wandering at Underground Cinema Film Festival in Dun Laoghaire on September 10th at 5.30 pm in the Kingston Suite of the Royal Marine Hotel. Tickets are onsale now.
