Parzival Productions and Eclipse Pictures have released the trailer for Alan Gilsenan’s highly-anticipated drama, The Meeting, which opens in Irish cinemas on September 28th.
In a modest room in a Dublin suburb, two people prepare for a meeting that could have an enormous impact on their lives. For both of them, it is a complete step into the unknown. The film is based on a real meeting which took place between Ailbhe Griffith and the man who, nine years earlier, subjected her to a horrific sexual assault and left her seriously injured and fearing for her life.
Griffith, in an extraordinary move, has chosen to play herself in this unique drama from one of Ireland’s most provocative filmmakers, Alan Gilsenan. What emerges is a truly unique and unorthodox cinematic experience as Ailbhe courageously seeks healing through a progressive form of justice, rapidly gaining momentum throughout the world.
Other cast members include Terry O’Neill, Kevin McCormack, Marie Keenan, Brenda McSweeney, and Allan Keating. The film was edited by Emer Reynolds, who also worked with Gilsenan on Unless, which was released earlier this year. Director of Photography is Colm Hogan, with Sound Recordist John Brennan and Production Design by Alan Gilsenan. The Meeting is produced by Thomas Hardiman, in association with Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, and DCTV.
The Meeting, which features original music by Cloud Castle Lake, opens at cinemas nationwide on September 28th. See themeetingfilm.com for more details.
