#IrishFilm: Colin Farrell to reteam with Yorgos Lanthimos for The Killing Of A Sacred Deer

Deadline is reporting that Irish star Colin Farrell is set to reteam with his The Lobster director Yorgos Lanthimos on The Killing Of A Sacred Deer, which is being co-produced by Dublin-based production company Element Pictures.

Lanthimos will direct and co-write The Killing of a Sacred Deer, with his The Lobster co-writer Efthimis Fillipou, with production starting in the U.S. in August. The film is a psychological thriller with supernatural elements that follows a young man that needs to take revenge, a doctor that has to make a decision, and his family that must survive.

Lanthimos recently directed The Lobster in conjunction with Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures, and David Kosse of Film4. Film4 will also be involved in this new film, which is one of a number of projects Lanthimos is developing with the two production companies. The film is being financially backed by Film4 and New Sparta Films, under a partnership arrangement brokered by Hanway Films. HanWay will sell the film at the Cannes Marché du Film this week. Distributor A24 has already secured the domestic (US) rights, having already worked with Lanthimos on The Lobster‘s release.

On behalf of Element Pictures, Ed Guiney said:

Yorgos is truly one of the most exciting film makers working today and he and Efthymis have written a stunningly original script. We are delighted to be re-teaming with them and the amazing Colin Farrell for ”The Killing of a Sacred Deer’. Film4 have as always been amazing backers and we look forward to working with them on the production along with our friends at HanWay and New Sparta Films.

Farrell will next be seen in the J.K. Rowling scripted Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them this November. He is represented by LBI Entertainment and CAA. Lanthimos is represented by CAA, LBI Entertainment and Sayle Screen.
