Entertainment One has released a new trailer for Tom Harper’s Wild Rose, which features Irish actor Jessie Buckley (Beast) in the lead role. On release in Ireland and the UK on April 12th.
Rose-Lynn Harlan (Buckley), is bursting with raw talent, charisma and cheek. Fresh out of jail and with two young kids, all she wants is to get out of Glasgow and make it as a country singer in Nashville. Her mum Marion (Julie Walters) has had a bellyful of Rose-Lynn’s Nashville nonsense. Forced to take responsibility, Rose-Lynn gets a cleaning job, only to find an unlikely champion in the middle-class lady of the house (Sophie Okonedo).
Directed by Tom Harper, Wild Rose is an uplifting story with an original soundtrack about family, dreams and reality, and three chords and the truth.
Killarney native Buckley, who recently was nominated for the EE BAFTA Rising Star Award, first rose to public attention when she came second in the BBC talent show-themed television series I’d Do Anything in 2008. She subsequently played Anne Egermann in the West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music. She has appeared as Marya Bolkonskaya in the BBC’s dramatisation of War and Peace, before landing the recurring character of Lorna Bow in the BBC television drama series Taboo, alongside Tom Hardy. Last year she drew praise for her lead performance as Moll Huntford in the psychological thriller Beast.
