#IrishTalent: Jack Reynor cast as lead in CBS series Strange Angel

CBS All Access, the CBS Television Network’s digital subscription video on-demand and live streaming service, has announced that Irish actor Jack Reynor will star in its upcoming original drama series Strange Angel.

Based on George Pendle’s 2006 book of the same name and developed for CBS All Access by Mark Heyman (Black Swan, The Wrestler), Strange Angel follows the mysterious-yet-brilliant double life of Jack Parsons in Los Angeles during the 1940s.

By day, he works as an acclaimed scientist in the then-unknown world of rocketry.  But, by night, he moves into a darker realm, experimenting with sex magick alongside occultist Aleister Crowley.

Strange Angel will be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Scott Free Productions. Mark Heyman, David DiGilio, Ridley Scott, and David W. Zucker will serve as Executive Producers; Clayton Krueger will serve as co-Executive Producer; and David Lowery (A Ghost Story, Pete’s Dragon) will direct and executive produce.

Reynor is best known in Ireland for his roles in the John Crowley’s Golden Globe-nominated film Sing Street, Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction, Lenny Abrahamson’s What Richard Did and Gerard Barrett’s Glassland, for which he won the Sundance Film Festival’s World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting (2015).More recently he has starred in Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit, Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire, and Justin Kurzel’s Macbeth. He has just finished production on Mimi Leder’s On the Basis of Sex and will next be seen in Jonathan and Josh Baker’s upcoming sci-fi action-thriller Kin and Andy Serkis’ Jungle Book adaptation Mowgli.
